13th Annual Wacking Warning Labels Contest

The results of the 13th Annual Wacky Warning Labels contest, which entertains and surprises people about the lawsuit-happy culture of the nation and the lengths to which companies must go to avoid lawsuits, have been announced.

The Grand Prize winner is "Never operate your speakerphone while driving," which is a warning label on the Jabra Drive N' Talk speakerphone for use with a cellphone.

The Second Prize winner is "This product moves when used," which is a warning label on a motorized Razor go-cart.

The Third Prize winner is "Use of a headset that covers both ears will impair your ability to hear other sounds," which is a warning label on the Plantronics Bluetooth headset.

The contest's host Bob Dorigo Jones, a Senior Fellow at the Foundation for Fair Civil Justice, shed some light on the real message behind the otherwise humorous competition. "Once a year, millions of people around the world get a collective laugh from our winners," said Jones. "The truth is, this is no laughing matter. In fact, every family of four in America pays a 'litigation tax' of more than $9,000 a year on products and services we buy."
